Mistakes. Inconsistencies. Safety risks. Time constraints.

These are just a few of the concerns that will keep you awake at night when youíre conducting vehicle testing. Stop worrying, start sleeping soundly, and put Autonomous Solutions Inc. (ASI) to work on your test vehicle. Our vehicle automation services will help you get consistent, accurate, safe results, and your robotic test driver will never complain, get bored, or ask for a raise.
Automated Test Vehicles
Using highly accurate positioning, intelligent path planning, and robust vehicle control, the vehicle automation kit provides a rugged, reliable testing system that can be used with any existing vehicle for a completely automated testing solution. The system works on paved, dirt, and bump tracks, as well as in open fields. Vehicles automated by ASI are currently in use on the proving grounds of several well-known vehicle manufacturers.

A human test driver can run a test ten times and get ten different results. With an ASI automated test vehicle, your tests are consistent and repeatable to a degree not possible with a human driver. Vehicle automation also removes people from harmís way, reducing liability and health risks. When a human test driver is necessary, our system can be used to mimic the efforts of a person for future tests. A single operator can control and monitor multiple vehicles simultaneously.
Automation Approach
ASI uses a suite of hardware, electronics, and software to equip test vehicles for complete automation. Our specialized control unit can interface with the CAN buses on modern vehicles to monitor vehicle systems, and in some cases control vehicles using OEM hardware. For other vehicles, our actuator kit can be installed to control vehicle functions without disrupting normal vehicle operation. GPS and communications are mounted in a single assembly to the roof of the vehicle.
Data Logging
The Mobius data-logging interface allows data collection and programmed actions based on value limits. Each data channel has a sampling rate and upper and lower control limits with corresponding action triggers. This data-logging interface is designed to interact with any third-party data logger.
Testing Features
Whether you choose to drive the robot remotely or have the vehicle drive itself, the unmanned system is controlled by ASI's Mobius™ software. This control package provides the following features to guide your test vehicle:

  • Map Builder: Import, edit, and create GIS data to build a map of the area the test vehicle will travel. The position of the vehicle is updated in real-time on the map.
  • Path Builder: Draw the path on the map as easily as drawing lines with the mouse. All paths are constrained by the designed capabilities of the vehicle.
  • Waypoints: Point and click to select waypoints to which the automated vehicle must travel.
  • Coverage Tasks: Select a coverage pattern, specify its parameters, and Mobius plans the most efficient path to cover the area, including activating and deactivating implements as needed.
  • Path Trainer: Manually drive a path to "train" the vehicle via GPS or other positioning systems for future repetitions. This training extends to all automated actions, including peripheral control and speed. All aspects of the path can then be edited using Path Builder's graphical point-and-click interface.
  • Tele-Operation: Use joystick input to control and log the movement of the vehicle in real time.

These optional features can be included if desired:

  • Obstacle Detection: Obstacles are avoided and test missions preserved automatically tests can be resumed after obstacles are cleared.
  • Video Monitoring: Live video feedback puts the remote operator in the driver's seat. Multiple cameras can be viewed simultaneously or one at a time.
