Mel Torrie – President/Chief Executive OfficerMel is the President and CEO of ASI. Prior to founding ASI in 2000, he held a position managing robotics development programs for John Deere, the U.S. Department of Defense, and the U.S. Department of Energy. As part of his work at Utah State University (USU), Mel also worked on and managed portions of two NASA Space Shuttle Payloads. He served as a Board Member for the US Military Robotics Consortium from 2009-2011, and he currently serves on the Executive Committee for the SAE Robotics Standards Committee. Mel holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from USU, serves on the Advisory Board for the USU College of Engineering, and is a speaker for robotics conferences around the US. |

Richard Netzley – Chief Operations OfficerRichard is the Chief Operations Officer at ASI and is responsible for managing all of ASI’s engineers and technicians, engineering operations for grant and project work, quality control, documentation, services, and production. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and has an extensive background managing multimillion dollar software companies that develop client server police dispatch hardware and software. Richard holds a Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology from Utah State University. |

Paul Lewis – Director of Software EngineeringPaul is the Software Director at Autonomous Solutions, Inc. and is responsible for the development of all software systems at ASI. Paul has also worked as the Operations Manager for ASI, managing many autonomous vehicle design and development programs for customers such as John Deere, Goodyear, and TARDEC. Paul has worked for Utah State University’s Center for Self-Organizing and Intelligent Systems (CSOIS) and The Boeing Company’s Military Aircraft and Missile Systems Group. Paul holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Utah State University. |

Mitch Torrie – Director of Vehicle AutomationMitch is the Director of Vehicle Automation at ASI where he is responsible for the technical design of ASI’s vehicle automation products. He also directs the development, training, and oversight of all engineers and technicians involved in automating vehicle platforms, including: mechanical, electrical, controls, documentation and technicians. Prior to his duties as Director of Vehicle Automation, Mitch was a program manager for ASI and has managed numerous autonomous vehicle design and development programs, fielding vehicles to customers such as Raytheon, JT3, and TARDEC. Mitch was also responsible for the Mechanical Engineering Department at ASI and led that team in developing innovative unmanned vehicles. |
